Philosophy & Economics

I'm a Professor of Philosophy at Durham University, Co-Director of the Centre for Humanities Engaging Science and Society (CHESS), and a past president of the International Network for Economic Method (INEM).

My research focuses on methodological problems in the economic, social, and biomedical sciences and issues in political economy. Currently I am working on evidence-based methodologies as a response to post-truth politics. I also have continuing interests in the role of science in a democracy and the interrelations between scientific, socio-economic, and political institutions.
